Viewing the site
If you have problems viewing the site because of the fonts or colours that I have used then you can change the defaults by doing the following.
To specify which font and color settings to always use :
1) On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
2) On the General tab, click Accessibility.
3) Change the settings as needed.

General
This website is designed to be viewed on 800 x 600 or higher screen resolutions. If you are still using a 640 x 480 screen then you will have to use the horizontal scroll bar to see the whole page.
This site is designed to be viewed on Internet Explorer 6.0 (or later). If you have an older browser then you may suffer page layout problems, however if we all ignored new facilities for too long we'd still be sitting round a pile of dry twigs bashing rocks together.
Updates to Internet Explorer are available free of charge for domestic use.
This site is tested on Internet Explorer 7.0 under Windows XP. I do not have facilities for testing on Linux, Unix or Acorn, but I have had some feedback from a Mac user and sorted out some code problems with him. If you are using one of these systems and think you have found a problem then please e-mail me.
Problems downloading pdf files using Firefox as a browser have been reported.

Site conventions & tips
I've tried to keep the site structure simple but if you get completely lost go to the Contents page.
Navigational links can be identified as the cursor will turn from an arrow into a hand when the link is hovered over, and the appearance of the link will change; text hyperlinks will change from this to this when hovered over.
Clicking on the LTC logo in the top left-hand corner of a page will take you up one level. Below the logo is the hyperlink path back to the homepage.
Clicking on the small triangle top in the bottom left-hand corner of a page will take you to the top of that page.
Clicking on the 'Back' button on the browser toolbar will take you to the previous page.
If the page opens in a new browser window, the new window can be closed by clicking on the X in the top right-hand corner.

Java Script & Style Sheets
Java Script is used for some of the functionality. If you have an old (pre-Java Script) browser or have Java Script disabled on your browser then the site will not display properly. If you want to see the site properly then you will either have to get a more up to date browser (see above) or switch Java Script back on. I have tried to produce a site that at least works on non-Java Script browsers but if you experience a problem you think may be due to Java Script then please e-mail me.
I have started to employ style sheets as a way of controlling the overall look of the site. Again if you are using an older browser and experience problems then it may be worthwhile upgrading as detailed above.

For those who are interested .....
I've tried to keep things simple. I get impatient waiting for huge pages to download when I want to find information quickly. I've avoided frames because not all browsers support them uniformly. Frontpage Express and Notepad were used for page design. The photographs were taken with a digital camera and edited with Paint Shop Pro.
If you have any questions or comments about our website, please e-mail us or fill in our feedback form. Site created and maintained by John Wheeldon with the help of Loughton Town Council. Website established in 1997.
