Can WE protect Jessel Green Forever?
Jessel Green – ‘Fields in Trust’ status
When the Local Plan was reviewed some 5 years ago, we did so well to save the valuable green space form potential housing development; we successfully secured the land of the benefit of all.
Now Loughton Town Council and Protect Jessel Green wishes to save the open green space of Jessel Green as a permanent feature for current Loughton residents and for generations to come. To achieve this, we’d like to obtain Fields in Trust status.
Fields in Trust is the charity that has been protecting the future of our parks, playgrounds, playing fields and green spaces for 100 years. Fields in Trust are the only charity in the UK working to protect parks and green spaces for good. Because once lost, they’re lost. In practice this means they can never be sold off for development and will be retained as a public park, playing field or recreation ground forever.
Jessel Green is owned by Epping Forest District Council (EFDC). Loughton Town Council and Protect Jessel Green would like to recommend to EFDC that Jessel Green should be granted ‘Fields in Trust’ status.
