The Live Chat service is available on the police website 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Send and receive real-time messages with an online operator.
There is a 24-hour 101 service which people can call if they feel it is more appropriate to speak to the police or don't have access to the internet.
Always call 999 if a serious offence is in progress or has just been committed, if someone is in immediate danger or harm, property is in danger or being damaged, or a serious disruption to the public is likely.
If you have a hearing or speech impairment, use the textphone service 18000.

British Sign Language (BSL) users please use the video relay service where an interpreter will help you report the crime.
If you're in danger but you can't talk on the phone, you should still call 999, then follow these instructions depending on whether you're calling from a mobile or a landline.

Is a charity and a membership organisation with a big
mission to inspire people about Epping Forest, and to conserve and protect its
irreplaceable biodiversity, culture and heritage now and for generations to
come. We operate across the whole of Epping Forest, covering 6,000 acres
stretching from Manor Park in East London to Epping in Essex. Epping Forest is for everyone to love. Our work is to stand up for this wonderful ancient Forest and inspire everyone to do the same.
We have regular guided walk programmes to help you get to know Epping Forest, and we operate the Epping Forest Visitor Centre at High Beach on behalf of City of London Corporation (the Conservators). We also help to increase the biodiversity of the Forest through hands-on conservation work, campaigns to raise awareness of the Forest and advocate at planning enquiries to ensure it does not suffer direct damage from more development, traffic or pollution.

Epping Forest Volunteering
Epping Forest Volunteering provides volunteers who give their time and talents to support fellow members of the local community. They may comfort crime victims, care for a neglected pets or help out in a charity shop - the list of voluntary work is endless. Whatever they do, it has a very positive impact on others.
Most charities and voluntary groups would not exist without volunteers. Many much-needed services which may seem to 'happen by themselves' would not happen without them. It's often people who work tirelessly without attention who fulfil many local needs. These needs remain, as does the need for volunteers.
If you have spare time and would like to find out how rewarding volunteering can be, contact us:

Essex Place Names Project
This well established Project, which records the place-names in tithe, enclosure wards and other Essex documents is looking for volunteers to help with further recording.
The Project aims to record the names of roads, streets, fields, farms, houses, woods, inns, rivers, streams, mills, owners and tenants from old documents and maps dating from current Ordnance Surveys through 18th century tithe maps, estate maps, medieval Anglo-Saxon and (occasionally Roman) documents, parish by parish. The Project also aims to explore local areas where names suggest their history or use to see if any evidence exists and to make available this information to any person or group who wish to use it.
Those interested in recording, working with maps and with computer skills may obtain further information from:
