Loughton Wombles

Our own Loughton Town Council (LTC) staff do a great job in controlling the litter problem on our maintained areas but the issue is endemic and we have limited resources. No amount of education and strategically placed litter bins seem to change the mind set of persistent offenders.   The few spoil it for the many.

This is a concern for a large number of local residents.  There are already a number of public spirited individuals who already pick up litter on behalf of their local areas and community.

We would like to encourage and engage volunteer litter pickers to become ‘Loughton Wombles’ to unite and take on this problem.

The vision is for groups of volunteers to coordinate and operate on a regular basis. LTC will provide basic materials such as litter pickers and ‘Hi Viz’ jackets.
