Local Plan Response (final)

Published: 12 December 2016

We have worked hard to ensure the comments and objections in our lengthy response fully reflect the concerns expressed by local residents.

The Council has taken into account the views of the public from the open meeting held on 17 November 2016, attended by over 200 residents.  We have also included issues raised in  the countless emails and letters sent to the Council during the six-week consultation period.

The two key issues for Loughton are 1) the urban intensification of our town and 2) inadequate infrastructure provision.

Evidence has been provided in our response to show that the loss of much valued green spaces in the Debden Estate will have a fundamentally detrimental effect on the health and quality of life enjoyed by existing residents.

The proposed additional housing numbers for the town will stretch many services to breaking point.  Members described the Plan appearing to use a broad brush approach with little or no vision or recognition of the current problems facing residents.  No account has been taken of the adverse effects of additional development across the district and particularly in Loughton.
