Cllr Ken Angold-Stephens

It is with deep sadness that Loughton Town Council announces the death of
Councillor Ken Angold-Stephens who passed away on 8 April 2016.

Ken joined the Town Council after the May 2004 elections representing the residents of Roding Ward. He served as Loughton Town Mayor for the year 2009/10. He was also a member of Epping Forest District Council serving as its Chairman in 2011/12.

The dignity, courage and positivity with which he faced his terminal illness were the qualities associated with Ken in his working life.

Ken was instrumental in creating the Memorial Rose Garden in Roding Road, next to
St Michael’s Church. The garden had been open to the public since the 1960s but had become overgrown during the 1990s. Thanks to Ken’s dogged persistence during the many years of negotiation, planning and fundraising, it was restored to its former glory in 2014 and now serves as a fitting memorial to his devotion and hard work for the local community.

All our thoughts are with his wife, Jill and his family at this very sad time.
